We are looking for a Junior Product Developer (f/m/d) to work on the future of our venture, BettaF!sh. Our mission is to protect scarce resources, increase biodiversity, and make new plant life available to the food industry. As an award-winning alt seafood company, we create fish and seafood alternatives that have a positive impact on the world. Internally, we are a tech-enabled seaweed house, developing next-gen ingredients to enhance sensory properties, improve nutritional value, and reduce costs and resource input.
If you're passionate about crafting extraordinary culinary innovations, your skills in food science and quality assurance will be key in creating products that resonate with both consumers and B2B customers. In your first year, you'll help us create plant-based seafood alternatives using unique seaweed ingredients, aiming for a taste and texture identical to animal-based options. You'll use your expertise in product development, hydrocolloids, starches, and plant-based proteins. Your responsibilities include:
Crafting taste and texture profiles, running shelf-life and nutrient tests on prototypes, and evaluating new ingredients and production methods
Organizing, supporting, and documenting internal and external tastings
Implementing quality assurance standards and driving ongoing improvements
Sustaining and enhancing our existing Quality Assurance system
Creating hand samples for concept and testing
Handling customer complaints and managing documentation for non-conforming goods
Keeping current with industry regulations to ensure compliance with food safety and labeling standards
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE GREAT AT THIS JOB
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in food technology, food chemistry, or a related field
You possess a strong food science background, applying scientific principles effectively in product development
You're skilled in utilizing plant-based ingredients to create innovative products
You're well-versed in food law, including vegan alternatives, labeling, and primary packaging
You have a keen sense of quality
You're a persuasive and empathetic negotiator with strong communication skills
You're fluent in both German and English
Lack of experience in one or more fields should not discourage you from applying
