TL;DR
This role is opportunistic as we keep an eye out for exceptional candidates. We are looking for amazing engineers to join our growing team in various areas of the stack: we process textual data at scale using a system powered by large language models and need engineers in various areas of the development.
We are looking for engineers with a background/experience in developing software systems in a small team focusing on the backend, full-stack or generally in data-driven applications.
We are looking for candidates with capability and flexibility to work across textual data, analytical core, web stack and with an interest in the wave of recent advancements in generative AI and large language models.
Ideal candidates are mid to senior level (3+ years of relevant experience) with a demonstrable track record of implementing things. Your ambition to learn and execute is key.
We value ambition to learn and execute beyond just years of experience.
We are located in London, one of the world’s foremost financial and tech hubs.
We accept applications from people from any background and are striving to create a diverse and inclusive work environment.
About the role
We want to generate the next generation of interfaces in how capital allocators use AI to interact with the world of sustainability data, like how ChatGPT showed a different way to think about search. Our end-to-end data pipeline enables investors to engage in the climate transition through financial instruments more easily and faster than ever.
The team has built a productised version from our proof-of-concept and are looking to continue developing our machine learning capability and enable new workflows for our users. We are looking for a candidate with a background in large language models to take ownership of the machine learning system performance through engineering modifications, prompt engineering, fine-tuning and by creating a system of models to enable the utilisation of the new generation of models in actual workflows. The role will be yours to shape with the chance to make a big positive impact on the company and on the world.
We are looking for an experienced software developer to work on various aspects of the web stack to build the MVP. They will be the spearhead of the technical team working to make this happen, collaborating internally to make sure the product is optimised for the needs of users now and in the future in light of the many climate finance developments taking place at light speed!
This is a hybrid position – You’ll be expected to be in the office at least 3 days a week.
In this role, you’d get to be responsible for:
Developing, implementing, testing, and shipping analytics software in Python.
Ensuring that our data and machine learning backend is productised to enable a slick experience for our users.
Adding and extending data-grounded features in our backend.
Implementing and maintaining code on various layers of the web stack, especially our cloud deployments, data storage, and pipelines.
Engaging with early users to understand their use for our software and data.
Collaborating with the broader team to design & implement our analytics software and machine learning applications.
Presenting your work to the users, internal team members and other key stakeholders involved with the company.
In practice, your job for the first months in the role will involve:
Scaling and hardening our current solution/data workflows
Collaborate with the machine learning engineers to facilitate further model development and research into more powerful models to improve accuracy and generalisation.
Championing good coding practises (code reviews, coding standards, CI/CD, etc) as the team grows.
About you
We’re looking for mission-driven, ambitious, and high-performing builders to join us for the ride. We care about your ability to deliver great work and to be best-in-class in your specialism, but do not expect you to be an expert in every task from the beginning as we work in the intersection of several disciplines. Ability to learn quickly and work in fast-paced, unstructured environments.
Experience programming with Python, modern web-stack, and one other programming language (e.g. C++, Java).
Experience of building, testing, debugging and maintaining web applications.
Experience building and deploying with one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical subject, or equivalent qualification or technical experience.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Stand-out candidates will have some of the following:
Experience building backend software for text-based data and analytical models (data science, numerical code or machine learning).
Experience setting up cloud infrastructure directly for modern web stack and/or data pipeline applications.
Experience with scaling web-apis, including logging, monitoring, optimisation, hosting and deployment.
Experience of data visualisation.
Working knowledge of source control management such as Git and issue management systems such as GitHub or JIRA.
Experience of working with Agile software development methodologies in a multi-disciplinary team.
Compensation & Benefits
In addition to a great team and an exciting mission, we will offer you:
A competitive salary (we benchmark with Otta)
Employee stock options
25 days of annual leave + Bank Holidays
Flexibility with working from home (3 days in, 2 days flexible)
