TL;DR

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with experience in building features across a web-app stack at scale.
We are looking a self-directed person who can own the API between our frontend and backend applications and who can get involved in projects across both the frontend and backend where necessary.
Ideal candidates are mid-level level (3-5 years of relevant experience) with a demonstrable track record of implementing things. Your ambition to learn and execute is key.
The team is currently ~10, growing to ~20 people by the end of 2024.
We are located in London, one of the world’s foremost financial and tech hubs. We value the close collaboration that comes from in-office work. We are looking for team members who can be predominantly based in London.
We welcome applications from people from any background and are striving to create a diverse and inclusive work environment. We recognise that under-represented groups in tech tend to only apply for positions if they fit 110% of the requirements, and encourage you to reach out even if you do not, but feel that you would be an asset to our team.

About us

We want to generate the next generation of interfaces in how capital allocators use AI to interact with the world of sustainability data, like how ChatGPT showed a different way to think about search. Our end-to-end data pipeline enables investors to engage in the climate transition through financial instruments more easily and faster than ever.
The team is currently at about 10 people, and plans to grow to ~20 in 2024. We have a built a first version of our platform which we successfully demoed at COP28. During Q1 we will be onboarding our first customers and throughout the rest of the year will be rapidly scaling our pool of customers and users.

About the role

We are looking for a mid-level Full-Stack Engineer to own the API between our backend and frontend applications. You will be a key part of the technical team, collaborating with the Product Engineering Lead and other engineers to deliver features across the stack.
This is a hybrid role – a combination of in-office (we are based in Central London) and remote working.
In this role, you’d get to be responsible for
Owning the API between our frontend (NextJS/React/Typescript) and our backend (Python/Fast API).
Implementing and maintaining features at various layers of the web stack in response to evolving business and engineering requirements.
Developing, implementing, testing, and shipping software in Python/Typescript.
Collaborating with other product engineers and balancing the tradeoff of shipping quickly versus building for scale, common in early stage startups like ourselves.
In practice, your job for the first months in the role will involve:
Working with other product engineers to scale our early product to multiple clients and users.
Delivering features as part of the engineering roadmap.
Shaping and owning the future of our API between frontend and backend applications.

About you

We’re looking for mission-driven, ambitious, and high-performing builders to join us for the ride. We care about your ability to deliver great work and to be best-in-class in your specialism, but do not expect you to be an expert in every task from the beginning as we work in the intersection of several disciplines. We do, however, expect that you are eager to learn and are persistent in finding great solutions to challenging problems.
As the ideal future teammate, you’ll need:
3-5 years of experience in an equivalent or similar role. We are currently looking for mid-level candidates.
Experience writing Python and Typescript in a production environment.
Experience with building and managing APIs at scale.
Experience with build complex web UIs and following UX design patterns using React.
Designing and problem solving under complex constraints.
Technical ownership experience.
Proven experience learning quickly and working in fast-paced, unstructured environments.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Stand-out candidates will also likely have:
Experience in building web-apps on top of large, unstructured data sets.
Experience building structure out of highly unstructured domain data.
Direct tech startup experience.

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to a great team and an exciting mission, we will offer you:
A competitive salary
We benchmark with Otta to be above the median salary
Employee stock options
25 days of annual leave + Bank Holidays
Flexibility with working from home (3 days in, 2 days flexible)
Snacks & coffee at the office
Private healthcare (including dental and vision checks)
We’re predominantly looking for candidates with the right to work in the UK. Exceptional candidates may qualify for VISA sponsorship.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We can’t wait to hear from you!
