About HIVED 📦

The world needs logistics solutions that are better for people and the environment, and that’s where HIVED comes in. We are a London-based climate and logistics start-up building the first emission-free parcel delivery network at scale, powered by a 100% electric fleet. A tech company at heart, we have built a modern tech stack, novel in-house routing and decision engines, apps and data stack, plus are now shipping for over 100 brands including ASOS, Zara, Candy Kittens, Pip & Nut and more.

Our tight-knit team is made up of ex-Revolut, Bain, GoPuff, ASOS, Apple, Amazon and Bulb employees, and we are backed by some of Europe's leading investors and VCs in climate-tech, logistics and mobility including Planet A Ventures, Maersk Growth, Pale Blue Dot VC, Eka Ventures and the UK government.

Role Overview 📝

HIVED is seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to join immediately and play a fundamental role in the next stages of our continued growth. This individual will set the tone and pace for executing our outbound business development strategy.

HIVED has seen exceptional growth in the last year and a huge reason for that is the support and care we provide to our retailers and delivery recipients. As we continue to scale we want to retain these values - as well as adding more - so it’s extremely important that we seek like minded retailers and partners who share our vision for offering delivery options that are better for the environment and our shared recipients.

You will take ownership for engaging with senior decision makers at leading retailers and industry partners. Researching and identifying potential leads and prospects will be key, as well as leveraging your lead generation abilities and experience to pre-qualify new commercial opportunities with retailers as you develop their interest in HIVED and our delivery solutions.

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for day-to-day interactions, communicating long-term synergies between HIVED and potential new retailers and partners, and aligning parcel delivery outcomes, joint operational efficiencies, and commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities 🎯

Creating and Building Retailer Relationships

  • Conduct thorough market research about the last-mile and logistics sector to identify potential leads & prospects at target retailers and industry partners.
  • Develop, build, and implement your own outbound leads through prospecting campaigns to generate potential commercial opportunities with key target retailers.
  • Be comfortable when engaging with key contacts and decision makers that include C-level Founders, Heads of Depts, and Managers and Directors at leading retailers within logistics, operations, and e-commerce departments.
  • A key part of your daily rhythm at HIVED will be utilising a range of outbound business development prospecting channels including, but not limited to, phone calls (cold and warm), emails and social media interactions, as well as industry face-to-face events.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with prospective retailers and partners based on credibility and trust; becoming a trusted advisor that deeply understands their unique challenges and goals is key to the role for HIVED.
  • Create, manage, and grow your own complex early stage sales pipeline in total autonomy, ensuring information related to leads and prospects is accurate and inputted into our CRM system and other B2B sales engagement tools used in the process.
  • Respond to and qualify in a professional and timely manner all inbound and social media leads as well as founder and colleague referrals.

Setting and Achieving Objectives

  • Schedule qualified meetings with leads and prospects at target retailers and industry partners where you will ensure an engaged transition and introduction to the commercial team at HIVED takes place.
  • Be focused on outputs, not inputs, by exceeding monthly and quarterly targets for generating new leads and creating qualified opportunities with target retailers and industry partners.
  • Consistently strive to achieve and exceed agreed weekly performance metrics, key results, and objectives.
  • Work closely with the commercial team at HIVED to achieve overall commercial and growth targets, ensuring there is alignment to our important mission and vision.

Systems and Tasks

  • Up-to-date systems are crucial to managing multiple leads and prospects, as well as building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with contacts. You’ll therefore be responsible for keeping all our systems related to contacts at potential retailers and industry partners accurate.
  • Inbound lead management is an important part of your day, where you are required to manage the website inbox and related channels, responding to enquiries and qualifying each potential opportunity.
  • Support marketing efforts ahead of industry events as well as proactively following up on leads generated.

Internal Relationships

  • Become a strategic part of our commercial team, working together to test market messaging, refining our value proposition, and executing our evolving go-to-market strategy.
  • Support Business Development Managers as well as the wider commercial team on key initiatives.
  • Respond and resolve inbound enquiries in a timely manner and with a positive outcome for marketing and commercial functions.
  • This role is a connection point between HIVED and potential retailers and industry partners. You’ll be compiling market feedback and suggesting new features across operations, data, tech, and product to help improve the service we offer.

Performance and Use of Data

  • Use CRM tools with supporting written summaries to produce regular reports on items such as outbound leads and prospects, market feedback and sentiment, successes and challenges faced, and conversion rates and overall performance to the Head of Business Development, the commercial team, and the wider HIVED team.
  • Alongside qualitative data from conversations about how the market is evolving, you’ll also use internal performance data combined with product developments to identify patterns and potential commercial opportunities.

And Lots More

  • We’re a small but fast growing team that is working hard to change a broken industry so we find ourselves doing lots of different projects to make that happen. Be prepared for projects that don’t logically connect to your role, but aid our mission and vision as well as being a lot of fun!
